KUNSTLABOR 2, housed in the former public health building on Dachauer Straße, is one of Munich’s largest temporary cultural use projects.
Covering approximately 10,000 square meters of indoor space and a spacious outdoor area, it has become a vibrant venue for contemporary art, culture, and creative experimentation.
Initiated by MUCA – Museum of Urban and Contemporary Art, the project builds on the success of the first Kunstlabor, which transformed a vacant complex into a walk-through total artwork in 2018/19.
KUNSTLABOR 2 is also home to the Refugio Art Workshop, a dedicated cooperation partner of KINO ASYL since the beginning of the project.
Since 2023, regular KINO ASYL events have taken place there.
Dachauer Str. 90, 80335 München
Wuri is a small village in Uganda, and many people with HIV are discriminated against there. Other people tell them that they have no future because of their illness. The film is a satirical comedy based on the idea of students failing an integration course. Each student has their own tragic story. Immigration and integration have been discussed topics for years, with empathy and openness for exchange at the center. With this short film, we, a group of young people from Ukraine, have described this on very primitive levels using tribes. We want to tell a story to the audience not through words, but through symbols, and […]

Trapped in a cycle of nightmares, migraines, anxiety, and fear, Mercy refuses to have children with her husband Dominic Banada after three years of […]
“The Congo has been torn apart by violence for over 35 years. The Congolese people have been subjected to massacres for more than two decades, while the international community, faced with national and international impotence, stands idly by. My country is being systematically plundered by people who claim to be our leaders! Almost half of […]
I want to show this film because I have seen many people wasting food with their money. This is a problem that exists all over the world. Rich people party, poor people die. I want to raise awareness about this.
“In our documentary, we tell the story of two young adults from Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) who have been close friends since childhood. The war forced them to leave their homeland and separated their paths. Now, they face the challenges of displacement and are trying to build a new life in villages in Armenia. Despite the separation, […]
“The film Asho deals with children’s rights in Iran and the fate of children whose parents separate. In the case of separation, custody is granted to the father. Women have no rights in this regard and often lose their children. The film portrays the deep trauma many women suffer from being separated from their own […]
I want to present the film “The Swimmers” because it truly touched my heart. My own experiences during my escape were very similar. A friend recommended the film to me, and when I watched it, I knew right away that it was the right choice for KINO ASYL. Even though the film was shot in […]
This year, we want to present a new, self-made film. The film addresses the struggles of refugees and how difficult it is for them to find their path. It focuses on pushbacks, which have become more severe over the past 3–4 years. Hardly anyone manages to make it across the route between Turkey and Greece. […]
