Circulus

Circulus

Immigration and integration have been discussed topics for years, with empathy and openness for exchange at the center. With this short film, we, a group of young people from Ukraine, have described this on very primitive levels using tribes. We want to tell a story to the audience not through words, but through symbols, and thus demonstrate the importance of compassion.

Why this movie?

I chose this film because it shows that although history repeats itself, we have the opportunity to learn from it, to show compassion, and to become more patient with one another.

My name is Dasha, and I grew up in Ukraine. I came to Germany at 17 and belong to a generation that hovers between refugee and migrant status. We fled to Germany because of the war, but we're building our entire lives here. One thing remains the same: I love people's stories. Capturing them and perhaps bringing something positive into their lives is my greatest wish. So, I'm very happy to be participating in Kino Asyl for the second time and to meet so many incredibly loving people.
