This year, we want to present a new, self-made film. The film addresses the struggles of refugees and how difficult it is for them to find their path. It focuses on pushbacks, which have become more severe over the past 3–4 years. Hardly anyone manages to make it across the route between Turkey and Greece. Pushback is not just a word—it hides unimaginable realities: the risk of not surviving, of losing your children or family, and of suffering severe physical and psychological consequences. That’s why we went to Lesbos—to witness it with our own eyes and show the world through our film.

I’m Masume. I come from Afghanistan but was raised in Iran. I lost my baby tooth this year and am currently waiting for my braces. I have been part of Kino Asyl for two years and I’m really looking forward to it. That’s why I want to continue. At Kino Asyl, we can show films about refugees.

Hi, my name is Habibe! I come from Afghanistan but was born and raised in Iran. I came to Germany two years and eight months ago, and this is my second year with Kino Asyl. I’m happy here. I’m part of it because I care about people and am very interested in all issues concerning refugees. That’s why I fight for these causes.
