At five in the afternoon | Fünf Uhr am Nachmittag

The film tells a very poetic story about a girl in shattered Afghanistan who must navigate new freedoms and old restrictions after the Taliban regime.

I saw the film for the first time last year together with my friends at my home in Iran. We all liked the film. It shows the way of life of people in Afghanistan, but most of all it highlights the situation of Afghan women and their rights. The film is by an Iranian director, but it was filmed and produced in Afghanistan. I can strongly relate to the content of the film because I have experienced many of the scenes and situations myself. They have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. It is important to me to present a film that puts women and their rights at the center. People around the world should know that people from Afghanistan also value women's rights.

"My name is Abid Amin. I’m from Afghanistan. The idea of Kino Asyl sounded interesting, and it was a great opportunity to meet refugees from other countries. I learned more than I had hoped for. For example, I learned how to work in a team with people from different cultures and how to organize a film festival."
