In a country torn apart by war, a thirty-year-old woman watches over her older husband. A bullet to his neck has left him in a coma. After years under his control, without her own voice, one day the woman decides to say things she never could before, even though they had been married for ten years.

Hello, I’m Tawfiq and I’m 17 years old. I was born in Afghanistan and have spent most of my life there so far. I came to Germany 14 months ago and have settled in well. I’m interested in filmmaking, music, culture, and people. I see KINO ASYL as a wonderful opportunity to live out these interests and to present a part of my culture and homeland through films. I want to show Buzkashi Boys because it is a beautiful and also very moving film. I find it fascinating to watch what happens in Syngué sabour (The Patience Stone) when the woman’s husband becomes paralyzed. The film tells the story of the problems women face in Afghanistan.
