I’m Ameen Nasir (26), from Syria. I’ve been living in Munich for 5 years as a journalist. Through my work and during my life here in Germany, I try to tell Germans and the world about the injustice and oppression that my people have suffered and are still suffering today. Because I am a refugee myself, I believe it is very important that we have the opportunity to speak for ourselves and are not only spoken about. My film provides that opportunity. Ma’an is also a friend of mine, and I highly value his work in film. The film presents many interesting stories, including those of German refugees. Their voices are heard as well.
Zaatari is located in Jordan and, with around 80,000 inhabitants, is one of the largest refugee camps in the world. The documentary follows theater director Naxar Bulbul during the process of staging two Shakespeare plays with the Syrian children living there.
