In the Land of Brothers, told in three moving chapters, tells the story of Afghan refugees seeking a new life in Iran. The film impressively shows how, despite hope and hard work, they repeatedly encounter obstacles: lack of residency rights, workplace exploitation, constant fear of deportation, and everyday discrimination.
Why this film?
This film moves me because it makes the invisible visible. It portrays the lives of people who, despite all efforts, are not recognized as part of society. Their stories not only reveal individual suffering but also make clear how deeply discrimination and unequal treatment can be embedded in societal structures.I chose In the Land of Brothers because it reminds us to look and show empathy. The film is a call to put humanity first and to give refugees the rights and respect that every person deserves.

Hi, I am Zohra, 22 years old, and I come from Afghanistan. I am very happy to be a part of KinoAsyl again this year. After the Taliban took power in 2021, I fled to Germany, and since then Munich has become my second home. I am passionate about working with nice people and organizing events and celebrations, and I love meeting people from the most diverse backgrounds, which is why I volunteer with various organizations. Like everyone else, I want to make a contribution to this society and support people in need.
