My daughter and I are very grateful to Germany for everything. With my screenplay, I wanted to show war through the eyes of a child who perceives everything differently, as well as the great hopes of this little girl. Children are our future, and we want to give them the best. The second message is that all refugees, no matter what country they come from, are deeply thankful to Germany. There are many films about refugees and the hardships of war, but very few about the gratitude toward the country that saved your family and you. We made the film as part of the “FrauenSicht” workshop by Doku Workshop/Kulturlust e.V. in cooperation with DaMigra e.V. It was a wonderful experience to work together on a shared message. We are all different – but we have similar experiences.

Hello everyone! My name is Veronika and this is my second year with Kino Asyl. I came to Germany from Ukraine a year ago. It’s a new chapter in my life. Last year, I met people from other countries and got to know different problems and understand what others might feel in those situations. I completed my bachelor’s degree in theater and stage directing and am still searching for myself. I hope that Kino Asyl is part of this process.

Hello my dears, I’m Natali. I come from Ukraine and have been in Munich for 1.5 years. But not alone: my daughter Lilit is with me. And we love cinema and everything related to it. Well, I’m also a screenwriter and want to make films myself in the future. KinoAsyl is our everything. When I’m with the people from KinoAsyl, I’m happy and feel ready to achieve great things. Being part of this team is an honor for me. And my daughter always asks me: Mama, when are we going to KinoAsyl again? Yes, as I said, KinoAsyl is our everything.
