The Fatigued

When you are tired, you need a break. But sometimes you do not really know why. Even when you take a break, life goes on.

The film is about people who return from the front lines and from war and go through a kind of rehabilitation. There, too, people are given a break that helps them cope with post-traumatic stress disorder. But this process is not always easy.

These topics also concern me personally, especially the question of how to find a balance between taking breaks to look after yourself and dealing with the everyday responsibilities of life. Love is also affected by these psychological pressures, as the film shows. War makes everything even more difficult because terrible things continue to happen, and those affected often have very little time to process what they have experienced.

Why this film?

I want to show that people who experience war still have a right to emotions and love, and that they deserve support. It is also important to receive support outside of clinics and to slowly find your way back to a normal life – or to have someone by your side who accompanies and supports you.

My name is Katya, I am from the Ukraine and I’ve been living in Germany for four years now. I am a doctor by profession but sometimes I think that art can sometimes help more than conventional medicine. Maybe that’s why I am part of Kinoasyl. Kinoasyl can broaden our view of the world, because we get to know other cultures, people and perspectives. I often have many ideas about what I want to do, but at the end I do nothing, because I cannot decide on one thing.
