Mbacke has lived in Germany since 2015. Born and raised in poverty, he left his family and homeland in Senegal to seek work and thus a future. In a short interview, he talks about the dangers of the journey, his hopes, and his fears. The short documentary about Mbacke’s journey shows that fleeing is not an easy decision and that behind every person lies a story.

I come from Senegal. I love reading, but only in French. I enjoy cycling and acting in the theater. My dream job was to be a subway driver, but that won’t happen because I’m not allowed to work. Sometimes I’d like to say something to you, but it can be difficult in German. My WhatsApp status: Busy. KINO ASYL is my second home.
