Desire

The film is about an immigrant mother, who did everything for her child, but lives a life without desire. On this last day, she confronts the emptiness in her life, when her child is not enough to give her meaning in her life.
I chose it, because during my life, in my family it wasn’t normal to talk about feelings. I could see how my mother was struggling and her only desire to live is her children. That meant that her entire desire to live became dependent on her children (on me). So I thought, what if that desire disappears? Or something happens to me? I took that idea on another level and made this film. What if suddenly that last hope disappears?
It’s a more personal story and my way of opening a dialogue with my mom, that she needs to rely on herself and find her own life. I believe not having any desire to live for yourself can have devastating consequences…

I am from Armenia and live in Germany now, because I want to pursue my own path becoming a film director in the future. In Armenia I initially studied film directing, but decided to drop out of school and come to Germany to gain new experiences and build a career in film. In addition to film I love photography and enjoy observing the little moments of everyday life. I’m often inspired by the seemingly insignificant things that happen between: a brief look, a gesture, a conversation or a chance encounter. I believe that the most interesting stories often lie in these little moments. Through film and photography I try to capture such moments and share my own view on the world.
