Muganga

The film explores mafia-like, state-orchestrated violence against women and children in eastern Congo, aimed at terrorizing the population and paving the way for the illegal extraction of natural resources such as coltan – an essential material used in the production of our smartphones and computers. At the heart of the film is Congolese doctor Denis Mukwege, who has risked his life to treat thousands of women who have survived sexual violence.

Why this film?

I want to show this film so that the world speaks out about the suffering of these people, the truth is documented, and concrete action is taken to put an end to the violence.

My name is Shamila and I love learning, sharing my knowledge and helping others. I have been actively involved with Kinoasyl for the last three years and there I have learned that dialogue, cooperation and respect are essential for building of positive relationships. A few months ago I completed an internship at the Saint-Nicolas retirement home, which was a very enriching experience. I had the opportunity to meet inspiring people and share simple yet valuable moments with them. Their smile and their trust reinforced my desire to pursue a career centered on people. The interactions with the residents touched me deeply and inspired me to contribute to their well-being by listening to them, giving them attention and sharing experiences with them. I am an empathetic, patient and motivated person, who cares deeply about human relationships and serving other people. My goal is to continue developing my skills so that I can provide high-quality support while respecting the dignity and the needs of each person.
